Mayflower Society Scholarship Announcement for 2026

$1,620 Scholarship Award (Poster Contest) for New Jersey High School Students
“The Legacy of the Mayflower Compact: Past, Present, or Future!”

The Society of the Mayflower Descendants in the State of New Jersey has established an awards program to recognize junior and/or senior students who are attending a NJ public, parochial, private, or are home schooled or are a legal resident of NJ and attending a school outside of NJ. The program will take place on a regional basis for students in the northern, central, and southern counties of the state and will recognize three (3) students in each region. One student in each of the regions will receive a $1,620 scholarship.
 
Students will submit an information poster on the theme,
"The Legacy of the Mayflower Compact: Past, Present, or Future!"
 
Contest Rules:
8 1/2 x 11 size poster as a pdf document.
Poster should include text and graphics
Works Cited maybe embedded in the poster document or submitted separately.
Required signatures from school (Teacher, Counselor, or Administrator) and parent and teacher for students home schooled.
 
Deadline to submit poster is Friday, March 27, 2026.
 
While poster submissions should demonstrate creativity and be engaging, the posters will be scored primarily on appropriate research, comprehension of source material, clear and concise analysis, and presentation of the applicant's response to the prompt. Posters that receive scholarship awards should demonstrate knowledge of the Mayflower Compact's particular historical context, purposes, and outcomes past, present, or future and not develop new or novel
critical views of the source materials.

Registrants will receive Contest Instructions and a Directions document, which includes a link to upload their poster and requires signatures to permit publication.
